This is not quite what I was expecting. In a sense it does what it says in the title. But this is an official publication, indeed an amalgam of official material, first published after the war. Therefore there is no narrative thread to draw in the reader. There is plenty of evidence of the high degree of skill (and courage) of the pilots involved.
It would however make an excellent research resource. Its other merit is some very interesting photographs – e.g the Barn at Tempsford (whence a lot of agents departed), the (SD) pilots’ ante-room at RAF Tangmere, and so on.
